Strengthening the involvement of users in health technology assessment at the HAS - Scoping paper
As part of its 2019-2024 strategic plan, and in particular its priority 2 "Making user involvement a priority", the HAS wanted to strengthen the involvement of users in the assessment of health technologies at the HAS.
Following the retrospective descriptive analysis of the contributions of patient and user associations to the evaluation of health products, the HAS college wished to draw up a roadmap presenting the main directions to be adopted in the coming years for the involvement of users in the evaluation of health products.
This roadmap "Reinforcing the involvement of users in the assessment of health technologies at the HAS" was drawn up after consultation with user associations in the field of health and representatives of manufacturers submitting dossiers for reimbursement. It presents several actions, which will take place over the next three years. These actions concern various topics such as early access to medicines, the automatization of processes…
The patient experience is essential to help us to bring a medical device on the market. Putting users back at the centre of decision-making for authorities will certainly reorganise the HAS assessment process, and offer new opportunities for patients to have their voices heard.
