LATM: How France is Advancing Telemonitoring Reimbursement
๐ซ๐ท France's Solution to Reimburse Telemonitoring
France has experimented with different temporary reimbursement programs for remote monitoring, starting as early as 2009. This experience has resulted in a two-fold approach (LATM) to provide reimbursement for remote monitoring:
๐น Pre-defined Indications (Generic Line)
Five generic reimbursement categories have been created, addressing major health areas such as chronic respiratory insufficiency, diabetes, renal insufficiency, and heart failure.
The reimbursement in this category is defined at a category level, without differentiation for individual products.
๐น De Novo Applications in New Indications
Through this process, numerous additional solutions in therapeutic areas like oncology and rehabilitation have established reimbursement.
Key aspects of this approach:
- Only the company making the submission is granted reimbursement.
- Other companies may apply separately for their reimbursement.
- As different indications mature, they may eventually be transferred to a generic reimbursement category.
โก Key Benefits of the Remote Monitoring Pathway (LATM)
Dual Reimbursement Model: LATM ensures compensation for both the telemonitoring solution and the healthcare provider managing patient monitoring.
Transparent Financial Incentives: With established tariffs for defined categories, it provides clarity for companies and healthcare providers.
Flexibility Across Solutions: The combination of predefined categories with fixed prices, a simpler submission process, and the ability to add new solutions with higher prices optimizes the approach for all stakeholders.
